Deep, biscuity nose, with savoury apple aromas. Delicate mousse, dry, creamy-textured with biscuit and honey flavours. The fine acidity gives a lively feel. Great on its own, or with a little creme de cassis it will make a fine aperitif.

Redfin Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc 2010 South Australia
Refreshingly herbal on the nose, this is a zingy young blend… a tropical fruit salad of flavours underscored by appetisingly fresh, lemony acidity. Great on its own – it’s very sociable – this white will be delicious with fish and poultry dishes.

Jean-Claude Boisset Bourgogne Chardonnay ‘Les Ursulines’ 2010 Burgundy, France
Pale yellow colour. A fresh, lively nose, with notes of citrus and a touch of elegant oak. The wine is well balanced with good acidity, medium to full body and long, mineral finish. With its slight oaky notes this fine Chardonnay will go well with smoked salmon or even a turkey fricassée.

Inspira Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2009 Maipo Valley, Chile
Ruby red in colour, very fruit forward aromas of ripe red plum, hints of cassis and other red fruit. On the palate it shows excellent character and is well balanced with soft and elegant tannins, medium body and a smooth finish. This is the ultimate flexible red wine to have on hand over the Christmas holidays..

Vigneti Zabu ‘Il Passo’ Nerello Mascalese 2010 Sambuca di Sicilia, Italy
Deep coloured and intensely perfumed, this rounded, rich red has elegant fruit on the palate, ripe, soft tannins but good structure and a chunky blackberry and spice fruit character. Good length on the long, warm finish. This beauty will be enjoyable with your Christmas lunch whether turkey, goose, game or even a vegetarian dish.

Curatolo Marsala Superiore Dolce nv Sicilia, Italy
Delicious dark amber in colour, with aromas of dried figs, sultanas and caramel. This wine is round and soft on the palate with notes of dried fruit, nuts and honeysuckle with a pleasant, sweet and clean finish. The wine to go with Christmas pudding, Christmas cake or enjoy on its own!

Special Christmas Case 103
The Special Christmas Case 103 is a delightful collection of wine, especially chosen for you with Christmas in mind! There are some ‘classic’ wines as well as ‘modern’ styles, offering a seasonal variety.
The case opens with a joyful sparkling wine made by the team at Louis Bouillot, in Burgundy. The grapes are from vineyards in the South of France, with the majority of the blend being comprised of Ugni Blanc and Chenin Blanc.
The Redfin white is bright and fresh using a blend of fruit from two important wine regions in South Australia: the cool nights of Adelaide Hills give elegance and aroma, with depth and fullness coming from the warmer McLaren Vale.
The other white is from the home of Chardonnay, Burgundy; selected grapes in the Côte de Nuits are used for this wine, which has been aged in oak barrels (only 10% new oak) for ten months.
The first red is a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley, Chile. Made with hand-harvested grapes it has juicy berry fruits, balanced with gentle tannins.
Sicily is very much an up-and-coming area. Using a local grape variety, Nerello Mascalese, planted in 2005, this recently founded estate is showing what truly fine wines can be made with indigenous varieties.
The last wine in the case is a fortified sweet from Sicily. Made by the Curatolo family who have been producing excellent Marsala for over a century; this is the oldest Marsala house still in family ownership.
